ORDER A FREE DESIGNATED DRIVER THIS SATURDAY COURTESY OF BEMYDD

Date Posted: Fri, Oct 9 2015, Miami New Times
With Second Saturday and III Points colliding this weekend, it's safe to say that the alcohol will be flowing freely. Also, traffic will suck. Sure, it always sucks, but it'll suck especially harder on Saturday, like a vacuum cleaner drinking a milkshake.

The good news: designated driver service BeMyDD is teaming up with Jack Daniels and Total Wine to provide the city of Miami with free designated drivers this Saturday. It's all part of a 12-month program aimed to give free rides to 24 different cities, and this weekend is our turn. Here's how it works.

Starting October 10, between 9 p.m. and 2 a.m., BeMyDD will be offering free service to anyone within a 50-mile radius of downtown Miami. They will be operating in Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach too. First you'll need to download the BeMyDD smartphone app, available for iOS and Android devices.

BeMyDD offers two different services: a personal driver service and a pick-up service. Only the pick-up service will be free on Saturday.

The pick-up service will send a driver (wearing a shirt and tie to make you feel classy) your way to take both you and your car home. If you have guests, they can pile in too.

With the personal driver service you can reserve your own driver for the entire night. The driver will come to your house, drive your car, and wait to bring you home when you're done, like a personal chauffeur — except one that uses your car instead of a fancy limo.

Again, the pick-up service is the only thing that's being offered for free on Saturday. If you order a personal driver service, you'll get a $20 discount.

If you have any clue when and where you'd like to be picked up on Saturday, ByMyDD recommends you make a reservation as early as possible (which you can do on the app) to ensure your driver arrives in a timely manor, especially if you're getting picked up from somewhere busy like South Beach or Wynwood.

All drivers have professional driving experience and have been screened for felonies, sex offenses, prior DUIs and clean driving records. So that's good.

Be safe on Saturday, enjoy some drinks and music, and when you feel that margarita start to kick in, pull out your phone and take advantage of the fact that a free well-dressed professional designated driver is only a button away. Ain't the future great?
