Holiday Rides Program aims to cut DUIs, drunken driving

Date Posted: Wed, Dec 9 2015, The Washington Post
The Montgomery County Liquor Control Board and Jack Daniel Distillery are partnering with the designated driver service BeMyDD for the Holiday Rides Program.

The program seeks to cut down on drunken driving and cases of driving under the influence. Local liquor stores will post signs and distribute information about the BeMyDD app, as well as distribute free $20 gift cards for the service. BeMyDD stands for Be My Designated Driver.

The BeMyDD pickup service allows users to book reservations, schedule their pickup, request a specific driver and track their ride through GPS. The rides cost from $14 to $19.50 an hour, and each of the service’s drivers are screened and have at least 10 years of professional driving experience.

The program runs until Jan. 1.
