Find a Designated Driver This Thanksgiving

An estimated 47 million Americans will hit the road over the Thanksgiving holiday, reaching the highest number since 2007, according to AAA.

But be cautious. Thanksgiving weekend is one of the most dangerous for driving. In 2013, the year for the most recent statistics from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 301 people lost their lives in car accidents.

The nation’s largest designated driver service BeMyDD, which is now available in 31 states, is hoping to reduce that number by offering a $20 discount to new customers with the promo code TURKEYDAY.

The app, available on iOS and Android, lets you call for a designated driver to bring you and your car back home safely ($25 for pickup and then a $3.45 per mile charge), or allows you to hire a driver on an hourly basis ($14 to $19.50 per hour depending on where you live).

BeMyDD is designed to draw in customers who don’t want to splurge on a limo or private car, but want an easy and safe way to get home.

In Evesham Township, N.J., BeMyDD has partnered with Uber to offer residents its service free of charge as part of a pilot program to help reduce DUIs and prevent drunk driving accidents. People who patronize one of 19 local establishments that serve alcohol qualify for the ride and can take advantage of it until January 2, 2016.

“Not only are there more people on the road over the holidays, but there’s also increased surveillance by law enforcement looking to keep people safe,” Arthur Simanovsky, BeMyDD CEO and President, said in a press release.

“BeMyDD provides an easy and hassle-free solution to drunk or buzzed driving and DUIs, so that getting behind the wheel doesn’t even need to be an option,” Simanovsky added.
