BeMyDD just opened shop in the Sacramento area offering to drive people in their own cars for nights out drinking — and then drive them home.
The assignment could be a night on the town — or a wine tasting tour.
The driver then sits in the car and waits until the clients and friends return.
Cleveland-based chauffeur company launched their service in Sacramento over Memorial Day weekend. They have 40 drivers locally, and the company operates in 16 states. In California it also operates in Fresno and Los Angeles.
The service costs $15 an hour. Basically, a client reserves a chauffeur to come to his or her home, and then do the driving in the client’s car.
The service is cheaper than a limousine service and often cheaper than cab fare.
The company cuts its overhead by not having a fleet, said Alexa Milkovich, co-owner and chief marketing officer of the Cleveland, Ohio-based company. “Our tag line sums it up: We drive your car so you don’t have to.”
The company also offers another service where a pair of drivers will pick up an inebriated person at a club, and then deliver a customer home in his or her own car. The second driver then picks up the chauffeur. The pick-up service starts at $50 and goes up with an additional charge for distances.
“People want to wake up at their own home with their car in their driveway,” Milkovich said.
She said the company’s drivers all have commercial licenses. None of them are allowed to have had any history of sex offenses, drunken driving or any felony. The drivers wear shirts and ties.
Drivers are dispatched through a call center in Cleveland and the website for more information is BeMyDD.com. The service partners with bars and restaurants to keep their clients safe from drunken driving and the thousands of dollars it costs for driving under the influence arrests
